Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a cap on a tooth, often made of gold or porcelain, which seals the tooth following a root canal procedure or in cases in which the top of the tooth is broken or has to be removed. A bridge is one tooth, or a set of artificial teeth, that replace missing teeth and are anchored on each side to healthy teeth. Usually, at least two visits are required - first to make an impression of the tooth (or teeth) which are to be crowned, or prepared for a bridge, and then another visit to fit the new crown or bridge.
